Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Redditch, B97
Contract: Long-term/Permanent
Weekly Pay: £500–£525
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming two-form entry primary school in the Redditch area from September 2026.
This is a full-time 1:1 role supporting a pupil currently in Year 2, who accesses learning within the Year 1 classroom due to their individual needs. The pupil has Autism (ASD), is mostly non-verbal, and requires patient, consistent support to access learning, develop communication skills, and engage positively throughout the school day.

Your Key Responsibilities:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual learning and communication needs
• Adapt classroom activities to enable the pupil to access the Year 1 curriculum at an appropriate level
• Support communication through visual strategies and other appropriate communication approaches
• Encourage engagement, independence, and positive interactions throughout the school day
• Implement structured routines to provide consistency and reduce anxiety
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support pupil progress
• Promote emotional regulation, wellbeing, and inclusion through a calm and nurturing approach

Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a primary school setting
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), particularly non-verbal or minimally verbal children
• Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support
• Understanding of strategies that support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional development
• Experience using Makaton, PECS, Visual Timetables, Now & Next Boards, or similar communication strategies is highly desirable
• Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and external professionals
