Pay: £110 – £135 per day

Long Term Futures is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant primary school in Croydon. This role is ideal for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is looking to take on increased responsibility, including leading whole-class sessions and providing essential PPA cover. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting both the teaching staff and the pupils’ academic progress.
 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver pre-planned learning activities to whole classes, ensuring pupils remain engaged and motivated.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to plan, prepare, and assess the curriculum.
  • Provide targeted interventions for small groups and individuals, specialising in literacy and numeracy support.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor other teaching assistants to ensure high standards of support across the school.

 

Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold a recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status or equivalent Level 4 qualification.
  • Proven experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) within a UK school setting.
  • Level 2 qualifications (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Strong ICT skills to support learning and maintain digital records.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and a commitment to raising attainment.
