Contract: Full time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures are seeking a nurturing and proactive KS1 Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, long-term basis within a welcoming Croydon primary school. This role focuses on supporting pupils across Key Stage 1, with an emphasis on early learning development, phonics, and targeted interventions, particularly for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
You will play a key role in helping young learners build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development, supporting them to grow in confidence and engagement.
About the Role:
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and SLT your duties will include:
• Supporting KS1 pupils (Reception – Year 2) with early learning and development
• Delivering phonics-based interventions and early literacy support
• Providing targeted support for pupils with ASD, SEMH, and speech and language needs
• Working 1:1 and with small groups to support engagement and progress
• Supporting the development of social skills, routines, and independence
• Creating a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment

Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Experience working with KS1 or Early Years pupils
• Understanding of phonics and early learning strategies
• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD or SEMH needs
• Strong behaviour management and ability to build positive relationships
• Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Reliable and committed to a long-term role
