Long Term Futures are recruiting a KS1 Teaching Assistant in Croydon (CR1) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurturing and proactive Teaching Assistant with experience in Key Stage 1, Early Years, or SEN support.
This role focuses on early learning development, phonics interventions, and supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, helping children build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
About the KS1 Teaching Assistant Role
As a Teaching Assistant in Croydon, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and senior leadership team to support pupils across Reception to Year 2.
Key Responsibilities:
Support KS1 pupils (Reception – Year 2) with early learning and development
Deliver phonics interventions and early literacy support
Provide 1:1 and small group support, particularly for pupils with SEN (ASD, SEMH, speech & language needs)
Promote engagement, confidence, and academic progress
Support social skills, routines, and independence
Help maintain a structured, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
Ideal Candidate – KS1 Teaching Assistant Croydon
We are looking for candidates who have:
Experience working with KS1 or Early Years pupils
Knowledge of phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
Experience supporting children with SEN, ASD, or SEMH needs
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
A Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
