Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision – Hackney

Long Term Futures are recruiting a number of dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join an alternative provision in Hackney, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience or interest in working with students who require additional support with behaviour, SEMH and SEN needs, within a more specialised and structured educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with additional needs
• Support pupils with SEMH, behaviour and engagement
• Assist students in accessing the curriculum in a supportive environment
• Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral leads
• Promote positive behaviour, routines and inclusion

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience supporting students with behavioural, SEMH or SEN needs
• Confidence working in an alternative provision or secondary setting
• A calm, consistent and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
• Background in youth work, mentoring or education (desirable)
