Long Term Futures are recruiting a number of dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington, supporting students across both the Primary and Secondary phases.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support to re-engage with education. Working within a specialist environment, you’ll support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and additional learning needs, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.

These roles are ideal for individuals looking to build a career in education, mentoring, youth work, psychology or teaching, offering invaluable experience within a highly rewarding setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils across the Primary and Secondary phases
• Support students with SEMH, challenging behaviour and additional needs
• Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
• Build positive relationships that promote engagement and attendance
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and senior leaders
• Encourage confidence, resilience and positive outcomes for every student

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
• Confidence working in a PRU, alternative provision or school setting (desirable)
• A calm, resilient and proactive approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
• A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching, mentoring, pastoral support or education
