Reception Teaching Assistant – Turves Green, Birmingham (B31)

£500 – £525 per week | Full-Time | Long-Term Temp-to-Perm | ASAP Start

Long Term Futures are recruiting a Reception Teaching Assistant in Birmingham (B31) to join a supportive primary school in Turves Green on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within an Early Years setting, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and behavioural needs, while also delivering phonics interventions and supporting whole class learning.

About the Reception Teaching Assistant Role

As a Reception Teaching Assistant in Birmingham, you will play a key role in supporting both individual pupils and the wider classroom, helping children build strong early foundations in learning and behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with SEMH needs
• Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour
• Deliver targeted phonics interventions to small groups
• Support whole class learning in an Early Years setting
• Assist with phonics, literacy, and numeracy activities
• Maintain routines, transitions, and classroom structure
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress

Ideal Candidate – Reception Teaching Assistant Birmingham

We are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Have experience working within Early Years or Reception
• Have supported pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
• Have a strong understanding of phonics delivery
• Are confident delivering small group interventions
• Are calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
• Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
