Reception Teaching Assistant
Location: King’s Heath, B14
Pay Rate: £500 – £525 per week
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Monday – Friday, long-term temp to perm.

Long Term Futures are recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Birmingham, B14. This role will be based within a Reception class, supporting both whole-class learning and delivering small group SEND interventions.
The role involves working closely with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH and Speech, Language and Communication Needs, within an early years environment. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children at a key stage in their development. The school is looking for a proactive, accommodating and positive person who is looking to excel and become a crucial part of their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils within a reception class, assisting with early learning and development
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group SEND interventions
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH and SALCN using appropriate strategies
  • Encourage communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Assist the class teacher in creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning Qualification, or relevant subject
  • Experience working with primary-aged pupils
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • A background supporting students in a classroom or similar setting
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies or training
  • A co-operative, patient and positive attitude
