Secondary Teaching Assistant
Location: Mansfield (NG20)
PayScale: Between £410 and £440 a Week (after deductions)
Duration: Long-term to permanent
Hours: 8.30am – 15.30pm
Start date: 15^th June 2026

The Opportunity:

• As a teaching assistant you will provide academic and pastoral support to students across a range of subjects in years 7, 8 & 9 (Key Stage 3) in a mainstream secondary school.
• Proven experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team.
• Full-time role, Monday to Friday. Term-time only.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work under the guidance of the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
• Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to students with a variety of special educational needs across all years
• As a teaching assistant you will support students to remain engaged and focused on lessons, adapting resources where needed
• Assist with differentiation, coursework, and organisation to help students access the full curriculum
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment through strong behaviour management skills
• Liaise regularly with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly

Who We’re Looking For:

• A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential).
• Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN.
• A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
• Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
