The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and resilient 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Rugby area from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils across Years 3–6 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional resilience, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

Your Key Responsibilities:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs across Years 3–6
• Build positive, trusting relationships to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
• Implement behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
• Encourage positive behaviour and resilience through consistent, nurturing support
• Support pupils in accessing learning and achieving EHCP targets where applicable
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals
• Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the wider school team
• Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs
• Experience working within a primary school or educational setting
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Patient, calm, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable pupils
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, and inclusive education
