The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist SEN school in East Finchley.
The school supports pupils aged 11–19 with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication difficulties, and physical disabilities. The provision is recognised for its nurturing, pupil-centred approach and its commitment to helping every learner achieve their full potential.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an experienced multidisciplinary team delivering personalised education and therapeutic support in a highly inclusive environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN needs
• Support learners with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing
• Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP outcomes
• Promote independence, life skills, and positive social interactions
• Support pupils with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
• Help create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support pupil progress
Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN and complex needs
• Experience working with pupils with Autism, communication needs, and learning difficulties
• Willingness to provide personal care where required (desirable)
• Experience using the SCERTS® communication model is highly desirable but not essential
• Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
