Long Term Futures is recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a well-established Special Educational Needs School in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils with a range of Learning Disabilities, Complex Needs, and additional educational needs within a highly supportive and collaborative environment.
Each class benefits from a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants, allowing teachers to deliver personalised learning whilst ensuring every pupil receives the individual support they need to thrive. This is a long-term opportunity for a passionate teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in specialist education.
About the Role
Working alongside Learning Support Assistants, the SENCo, therapists, and senior leaders, your responsibilities will include:
• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of learners with complex needs
• Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where pupils can flourish
• Working collaboratively with your team of Learning Support Assistants to deliver high-quality learning experiences
• Developing and implementing learning activities in line with EHCP outcomes
• Assessing, monitoring, and recording pupil progress to inform future planning
• Supporting pupils’ communication, independence, and personal development alongside academic achievement
• Managing behaviour positively through consistency, structure, and relationship-based approaches
• Working closely with parents, carers, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic support for each learner
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND, Learning Disabilities, or Complex Needs is desirable
• Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and inclusive practice
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential
• Patient, resilient, and adaptable in a specialist education environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Committed to safeguarding and delivering outstanding educational outcomes
