Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?
Long Term Futures are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive infant school in Bournville, Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive Key Stage 1 environment, providing tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with complex additional needs as they continue their transition into Year 2.
The Role:
Supporting a pupil with communication difficulties, including interpreting non-verbal communication
Assisting with emotional regulation using visual timetables, sensory strategies and structured routines
Supporting behaviour management through positive reinforcement and consistent boundaries
Providing personal care support where required
Helping the pupil transition between activities and classroom environments
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCO to adapt activities and monitor progress
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience working within a Primary or SEN school
Confident supporting children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Experience or understanding of ASD, SEMH, SLCN and additional needs
Knowledge of sensory regulation and therapeutic support strategies
Understanding of the EYFS framework and adapting learning across different age groups
Holds a TA qualification or relevant degree
Calm, patient, and able to work effectively as part of a supportive team
