SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Provision (EHCP Support)

£110–£125 per day

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary to permanent

Long Term Futures is seeking experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND provision within a Nottingham primary school from September 2026.

This role involves supporting a small group of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), primarily with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated communication, sensory and behavioural needs. The provision offers a highly structured environment with tailored support, enabling pupils to access learning and develop key life skills.

The school is looking for confident practitioners who are proactive, adaptable and genuinely passionate about supporting children with complex needs. This is a rewarding but demanding role that requires patience, consistency and a willingness to get fully involved in all aspects of school life.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced SEND staff and teachers, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with ASD and complex additional needs within a specialist provision
• Delivering tailored support to pupils with EHCPs
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
• Implementing structured routines and behaviour support strategies
• Delivering targeted interventions and adapting learning activities
• Supporting pupils during transitions, sensory breaks and group activities
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SEND professionals
• Building positive relationships that promote engagement, confidence and independence

This role requires someone who can remain calm under pressure and confidently support pupils who may display challenging behaviours linked to their needs.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex SEND
• Experience working with pupils who have EHCPs
• Confident managing behaviours that challenge and supporting emotional regulation
• Understanding of sensory needs, communication strategies and autism-friendly practice
• Proactive, resilient and able to use initiative
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential
