Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Wandsworth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve success both academically and personally.

Working alongside experienced teachers and the school’s SEND department, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in ensuring pupils can access the curriculum, develop independence, and feel fully included in school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with Special Educational Needs across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Adapt learning activities and resources under the guidance of teaching staff to meet individual learning needs.
• Encourage students to build confidence, independence, and positive engagement with learning.
• Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH, or other additional learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies in line with school policies.
• Monitor student progress, wellbeing, and engagement, providing feedback to teachers and the SEND team.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every student can achieve their potential.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with young people in a school, SEN setting, alternative provision, youth work, tutoring, or similar environment.
• A genuine passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with a range of learning and behavioural needs.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Experience supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Dyslexia, or Speech & Language needs would be advantageous.
