Long Term Futures are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school based in Derby (DE3). This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and structured environment that focuses on helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties and complex learning needs, with all pupils holding an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
About the role:
Engage and motivate students
Demonstrate empathy with and an appreciation of the care needs of students
Implement specific interventions to meet student needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals and families to deliver personalised learning plans
Provide 1:1 tailored and small group support for pupils with learning difficulties. This is across the years 11-16-year-olds
Inspire trust and confidence in students and colleagues
About You:
Experience in supporting pupils with additional needs in school or youth work setting
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trust with students
A calm, patient and adaptable approach to challenges
A genuine passion for helping young people succeed academically and personally
Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community
Have a clear and precise understanding of how children with special needs, Autism and complex behaviour learn.
