Long Term Futures are recruiting a Specialist Teaching Assistant in Chesterfield (S41) to join a dynamic alternative provision supporting pupils aged 4–16 across both primary and secondary settings.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners who face barriers to mainstream education, particularly those with behavioural needs and SEMH challenges, helping them re-engage with learning and develop essential life skills.

Please note: a driving licence is required for this role.

About the Specialist Teaching Assistant Role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant in Chesterfield, you will work across an all-through provision, supporting pupils academically, socially, and emotionally within a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural needs
• Support students aged 4–16 across primary and secondary settings
• Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
• Support academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
• Contribute to behaviour management and therapeutic strategies

Ideal Candidate – Specialist Teaching Assistant Chesterfield

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs in primary and/or secondary settings
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
• Can build trusting relationships with students
• Are calm, patient, and adaptable
• Are passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs
• Are willing to attend a pre-meeting via Microsoft Teams
• Hold a full UK driving licence (essential)
