Long Term Futures are recruiting a KS1 Teaching Assistant in Croydon (CR1) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurturing and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1, with a focus on early learning development, phonics, and SEN support (ASD, SEMH, and speech & language needs).

About the KS1 Teaching Assistant Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant in Croydon, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and SLT to support pupils in building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support KS1 pupils (Reception – Year 2) with early learning and development
• Deliver phonics interventions and early literacy support
• Provide targeted support for pupils with SEN (ASD, SEMH, speech & language needs)
• Work 1:1 and with small groups to support engagement and progress
• Support the development of social skills, routines, and independence
• Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment

Ideal Candidate – KS1 Teaching Assistant Croydon

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have experience working with KS1 or Early Years pupils
• Have a strong understanding of phonics and early learning strategies
• Have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD or SEMH
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• Are patient, caring, and adaptable
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Are reliable and committed to a long-term role
