Nottingham City Centre, NG1 (commutable from Sneinton, Mapperley, West Bridgford, Carlton, Beeston)
£110–£125 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary to permanent

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Nottingham City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally.

The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships, adapt to individual needs and provide consistent support throughout the school day.

About the Role

Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external professionals, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
• Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
• Delivering targeted interventions to support academic and personal development
• Using visual supports, structured routines and differentiated resources
• Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning
• Supporting pupils during transitions and less structured parts of the school day
• Implementing strategies outlined within EHCPs and support plans
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external agencies

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting
• Knowledge of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language difficulties
• Experience delivering interventions and adapting support strategies
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• Patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships
• Committed to a long-term role with the potential to become permanent
