Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Long Term Futures are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Derby (DE3). This is a full-time opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive impact and supporting students both academically and emotionally.

The school provides a structured and nurturing environment for pupils aged 11–16 with a range of needs including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs. All students have an EHCP, and the school places a strong emphasis on personalised support, helping each pupil to build confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
• Support lesson delivery and classroom activities
• Manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
• Adapt support to meet individual needs (EHCPs)
• Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

• Experience supporting children with SEND (school or care setting)
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A patient, calm and proactive approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A genuine passion for supporting young people
